Sagicor hosts webinar about building communities of support for breast cancer on Thursday 26th

Bridgetown, Barbados: With Breast Cancer Awareness activities across the Caribbean now in full swing, there has been much discussion and public engagement around raising awareness about this disease, which is the leading cause of death by cancer for women in the Caribbean region. This year, insurance giant Sagicor has built its Pinktober campaign around the importance of building a community to support those with breast cancer. The tagline is simply, “Join the Fight”.

With this in mind, the company will be hosting a webinar on Thursday 26th October from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, which will be open to attendees across all of the Eastern and Southern Caribbean countries.

Randy Howard, Sagicor’s Manager, Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Events explained the rationale behind the webinar. He said, “We’re really excited about this webinar, because we are hoping to have a discussion with our guests about how one’s journey with breast cancer is impacted by the community around you. We will be going through a discussion about the signs, what to look out for, how to navigate testing – but we really wanted to talk about how the experience is changed by how your community supports you.

“To take that discussion forward we have scheduled to chat with us, two breast cancer survivors as well as two medical doctors. And of course, given our regional focus, we are happy to share that our guests span the Caribbean, hailing from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, St Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad and Tobago.”

The panellists for this year’s webinar are Dr Asante Le Blanc, medical doctor and chairperson of the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society; Dr Keisha Liddie, primary care physician from St Kitts and Nevis; Emelda Benjamin, nurse, counsellor and breast cancer survivor from Antigua and Barbuda and Tonya Byer, a digital communications specialist and breast cancer survivor from Barbados.

Interested persons can visit Pinktober 2023- Sagicor to register for the webinar or be guided through our social media pages on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter.

A conversation about Breast Cancer will take place this Thursday, October 26th, via Zoom.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
