On Wednesday 28th June, 2023, the St. John’s Academy hosted its 2023 graduation ceremony with Mindy Leblanc capturing Valedictorian of this year’s graduating class.
Outstandingly, Leblanc took home nineteen (19) other awards including Social Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Religion, English A, English B, French, Information Technology, Spanish, Agricultural Science, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Geography, Principles of Business, Academic Excellence, Spirituality and the Principal’s award.
In her valedictory address, Leblanc voiced that her years at the St. John’s Academy have played an integral part in who she is and the memories forged at the institution will forever be embedded in mind, good or bad. “We will not forget the time spent here with each other. I did not start my time with this class, but they are who I am ending it with and if there is one thing this class can do, it is make a situation memorable,” she added.
She expressed deepest thanks and appreciation to her parents, family members, friends, teachers and fellow graduates who have worked tirelessly to get her to this momentous occasion.
“While our journey at this school has been unforgettable, they are over. That comes with sadness, yes naturally, but also with so much joy. We worked hard and made it to the finish line. My fellow graduates, I hope you recognize this for the truly amazing accomplishment that it is because some do not get here,” she voiced. Leblanc encouraged the graduating class to persevere, despite whatever obstacles or crucibles they may go through.
Remarkably, Abigail Benjamin also captured the awards of Salutatorian, Food and Nutrition, Human and Social Biology and Sports person of the year while Rielle Leblanc captured the awards of Student of the year, technical drawing, most disciplined student, conduct and deportment, outstanding volunteer and school spirit.
As one leg of the graduates’ journey has culminated, Emonews wishes the students and their families all the best in their future endeavors.
