The Dominica leg of the Richès Karayib Song Competition entitled RICHÈS KARAYIB VOICES is carded for Saturday July 15, 2023 as part of activities for Cadence-lypso Month. The competition is open to persons between 18 and 35 years old who will be presenting their original work.
From June 15 to July 3, 2023, participants are invited to submit their original songs via a dedicated link on the Richès Karayib website (www.richeskarayib.com). Nine finalists will be selected by an esteemed panel of local judges, who will then showcase their talent at the Richès Karayib Voices event in July, where the ultimate winner will be announced.
As part of the winning prize, the victorious singer will earn an incredible opportunity to represent Dominica in the Grand Finale in Martinique in October 2023. This event will feature winners from various participating countries. Moreover, while in Martinique, the winner will also participate in an intensive music business workshop facilitated by regional and international music executives and producers, as well as the recording of a Caribbean album compiling their winning songs.
Participants are required to fill in an application form and submit their song via a link on the Richès Karayib website. The songs must be recorded on video, MP4 format and they can be performed in an acapella style, or vocals accompanied by an instrument or backing track. The submissions should preferably be a Caribbean genre however other genres will be accepted.
Dominica will be among eight islands participating in the Richès Karayib Voices Song Competition. Competitions have been held in Martinique, Anguilla, St.Lucia and Barbados thus far. After the Dominica leg, the competition will move to Guadeloupe, St. Maarten and Trinidad and Tobago.
On the eve of the song competition, July 14, Richès Karayib will also host a musical event dubbed Caribbean Beatscape. This unique event will bring together musicians, music producers, promotors and DJs for workshops, performances and panel discussions. Both events will be held at the Alliance France in Roseau.
Richès Karayib is a regional project with support from Interreg Caraibes and is led by ASIS WI and OMDAC of Martinique and Sa Kai Malade Karaibe Ltd (Creole Heartbeat) headed by popular radio announcer, DJ and promoter Leroy Wadix Charles.
