ITSS graduants 2023 urged to keep on moving – Featured Speaker Kinte Serrant
On Wednesday 21st June, 2023, forty-two (42) students said farewell to the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School, under the theme ‘Going Beyond Finite Possibilities; Advancing with Purpose!’.
At the ITSS graduation ceremony, the featured Speaker Mr. Kinte Serrant, encouraged the graduants to keep moving despite life’s adversities. Serrant is a proud graduate of the ITSS and holds a Bachelors in Management Concentrated in Marketing (BSc) from the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus as well as the holder of a masters in Public Administration after his migration to the United States in 2014.
According to Serrant, the number one killer of all dreams is stagnation. Therefore, it is imperative that persons utilize the ‘keep moving’ mentality so as to ensure that they accomplish the most important goal, their dreams.
Further, Serrant urged the graduates to learn a skill. He emphasized, “Figure out what you’re passionate about and learn how to turn that into a business. Do something! Don’t just sit there doing nothing. Keep moving!”
Serrant also stressed a few notable principles that he believed guided him through life such as ‘attitude defines altitude’, self-reflection, punctuality, regularity, hard work and embracing the power to say thank you.
As he concluded he re-iterated the significance of plotting one’s goals on a piece of paper as a reminder that life has more in store. He left the graduating class with a quote from the famous reggae artist, Sizzla, ‘you got to be strong, be all the best you can, the world is out there, conquer your fears and don’t wait too long. Above all else keep on moving’.
