Award winning photographer, Yuri A. Jones, merged art and technology with the launch of his
virtual gallery exhibition. He is introducing three unique photo series and offering 25% off all
prints just in time for Father’s Day.
The virtual exhibition is an interactive and immersive space located on Jones’ website. It mirrors
the elegance of a traditional gallery, dissolving the physical limitations of boundaries. Viewers
around the globe can navigate the exhibition seamlessly, like strolling through a physical gallery,
with a few clicks or swipes. The platform allows viewers to personally examine the images’
intricate details, and interact with them right there in the gallery. Jones said, “People can click on each image to get more context and to check out different sizes, materials and frames. The best part is that they can generate visuals of the various sizes on their own walls using augmented reality technology.”
For this inaugural staging, Mr. Jones said he carefully curated three distinct thematic sections to
captivate audiences and provoke thought. “The photo series are out-of-the-box for me,
personally. They are Second Life, Market Lady, Inside & Out.”
Jones’ boldest work, ‘Second Life’ combines popular alcoholic drinks with relevant imagery.
These two elements blend together in a way that is intriguing, with the bottles, holding flower
bouquets, placed against interesting backdrops. Although the images appeal to anyone with a
favorite alcoholic drink, Jones said he wanted to create a group of images that featured
something men would identify with and be happy to hang in their personal spaces.
The ‘Market Lady’ series depicts a slice of Dominican culture featuring model Nicole Morson,
with scenes from the Roseau Market as a backdrop. Jones revealed that it took him two years to acquire the skills to fully realize this concept. “I created and applied three color palettes to each photograph in this series, which resulted in five distinct themes, five individual moods,” Jones said. “This gives collectors a more robust range of choices.”
For ‘Inside & Out’ Mr. Jones closely examined the varied textures and colors of common fruits,
in an unconventional way. From the trichomes on the okra to the tiny pepper seeds, Jones
captured the fruits’ intricate details in high resolution for near and far viewing. These can be
displayed as décor pieces anywhere, especially dining in rooms and kitchens.
Jones confirmed that the exhibition will be a permanent fixture where he will rotate images over
time so viewers can interact with his portfolio in a unique and personal way. He invites you to
view and enjoy the virtual gallery at www.yuriajones.com.
