The North Eastern community of Marigot will once again host its signature event, Mayfest, after a three year hiatus. A highlight of MayFest, The Miss MayFest Pageant was officially launched on Saturday.
President of the Marigot Development Committee(MDC), Michael Pascal invited all to come support the young ladies vying for the prestigious title. He thanked the sponsors who have given generously and invited others to do likewise.
He highlighted new activities which will form part of the MayFest weekend such as the construction of a home for a blind resident.
Miss MayFest 2014 and a member of the activities committee, Patrice Dorsette said that pageantry is an important aspect of Dominica’s culture.
She adds, “It also aids in the upliftment and empowerment of young women. Through pageantry, young women are able to reap untold benefits and learn invaluable life skills”.
Dorsette remarked that many MissMayFest participants have gone on to do well in national competitions.
The show will consist of five judged rounds: Spectacular Wear, Talent, Swimwear, Evening Wear and Question and Answer. It will be held on April 29, 2023 at the Marigot Fisheries Complex at 8:00 PM. Tickets cost $30.
The five lovely contestants, some of whom are no stranger to the stage (in order of appearance) are:

4. Dainah Graneau- Atkinson
5. Bryanne Ewards- Layou
The show promises to be an exceptional one.
