The Central Cooperative Credit Union Limited(CCCUL) has named national cyclist Ajaniah ‘Ajani’ Casimir as its first official brand ambassador. Marketing Specialist at Central, Mrs. Lorraine Henderson Reid, said that in his role, Casimir will “assist with brand awareness…, build goodwill and assist with the recruitment of young savers as we aim to educate young people on being financially disciplined”. She said that Central is pleased to be associated with Casimir.

Meanwhile, Young Casimir as he is affectionately referred to in the sport, thanked Central for their immense sponsorship of him for which he is extremely grateful. He promised to do history as they do theirs.  He said that cycling is a sport that he enjoys and loves participating in. He added that it is an extra motivation when he feels the tangible support from partners like Central.

“I am proud to be a partner in this sponsorship. It’s both sides; you help and I help also, in you know, promoting and advertising and I will be doing so happily and joyfully because I really appreciate all that this corporation is doing for me and others also. So I just want to say a big, big thank you and I will be living up to my duties and thank you for keeping yours.”

Central’s sponsorship of Casimir is timely as it was recently reported that he damaged the only bicycle he owned and had to finish a race with that of his coach.

President of the Dominica Cycling Association(DCA) Ronald Charles thanked Central for their gesture as he said Cycling is a very expensive sport.

He said that he is very proud of Casimir who has proven himself to be an excellent sportsman. He added that while many felt that that we [Dominicans] were unable to compete with the French nationals, Casimir proved us wrong, entering into their jurisdiction competing with them and beating them. He added that Casimir has the talent and skill and is an exemplary young man who takes his education and faith in Yahweh seriously. He concluded by saying that he is happy with what is happening[ the sponsorship] and extended thanks to Central as Cycling is not a cheap sport but one that is very taxing and so the sponsorship will go a long way. Charles was mindful to extend thanks to other corporate sponsors as well as the Dominica Olympic Committee(DOC) who has always sponsored Young Casimir.

According to Charles, the DCA aims to promote the sport and and use the cyclist as a motivation to others as cycling is beneficial to one’s health.

Triscia Stoute, Acting General Manager of CCCUL said that Central is pleased to support the national cyclist as Central takes its corporate social responsibility very seriously.

“We take pride in honoring our corporate social responsibility. Youth, sports and health are the key focus areas for us. We are pleased to sponsor and support the national cyclist. We look forward to this continued relationship. We wish you success in all future events.”A cheque of EC $3,500 was presented to Young Casimir.
