VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT:

SECURITY OFFICER:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of SECURITY OFFICER at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital.

The Security Officer is responsible for the security and safety services at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH), by ensuring the safety and security of staff, patients, visitors on the premises of the Dominica China Friendship Hospital. These duties must be carried out in a professional and courteous manner.

Duties & Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

1. Manning the entry and exit gates and screening of personnel accessing the compound
2. Responding to members of staff requests for assistance;
3. Conducting foot patrols throughout the facility i.e., within DCFH and outside perimeter;
4. Participating in emergency drills organized by DCFH Management;

• Being responsible for all activities that may occur within the limits of his/her zone or access point while he/she is on duty;

• Providing for safety and security of all equipment and property located within the limits of his/her zone or access point;
• Allowing only authorized persons and those on business to enter the DCFH compound;
• Reporting to the Shift Leader any indiscipline from staff, patients or visitors;

• Searching of personal effects of individuals, whenever the situation may arise, upon entering and leaving of the compound;
• Respond quickly and correctly to reports and emergency calls;
• Identifying and apprehending trespassers;
• Verifying that any fixed asset leaving the compound has the necessary authorization;

Education & Experience

• Be at 25 years of age or older

• At least three (3) CSEC / GCE ‘O’ Levels including English and Mathematics,

OR over 5 years of experience in a related field

• Background in Law enforcement or basic security officer experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Basic computer skills and ability to prepare reports;
2. Being physically and mentally fit;

• Good customer service skills and able to work on a shift system including weekends and holidays.

• Able to work on a shift system including weekends and holidays.

• The ability to communicate effectively with good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters of security and safety of the DCFH.

Terms and Conditions

• The successful applicant will be given a one (1) year service contract with the possibility of renewal upon satisfactory performance. He/she will receive a competitive a salary/wages consistent with qualifications and experience. A Police certificate of character will be required.
