Staff contribute their time & talents to the residents
Roseau, Dominica – December 12th, 2022 – Employees of Flow, Dominica’s preferred telecommunications provider, gave freely of their time and talents to the residents of the Dominica Infirmary as part of parent company Liberty Latin America’s Mission Week 2022 (#LLAMissionWeek2022) volunteer initiative. The week of volunteering and community outreach took place from December 2nd – 9th, 2022.
Michael Coakley, VP, Head of Communications, Liberty Latin America, marked the occasion by saying, “Liberty Latin America’s Mission Week is an important initiative when our colleagues from across the region come together to make a difference in the communities where we live and work. Each year our contributions grow and more of our people get involved in our CSR activities focused on supporting learning, taking care of the environment, people, enabling digital access, and providing disaster relief. This is a testament to who we are and why we feel it is so important for us to give back in the communities where we live and operate. I am thankful to all those who enthusiastically volunteered their time to make a positive impact on the lives of thousands of people across our region.”
On Thursday December 8th, a group of colleagues from Flow Dominica, led by General Manager Jeffrey Baptiste and other senior members of the Flow Dominica team visited the Dominica Infirmary to engage with the residents as their contribution to Mission Week. The staff, many of whom also have elderly parents and grandparents welcomed the opportunity to participate in grooming activities, walks, feeding, and engaging conversations with the residents.
General Manager, Jeffrey Baptiste, expressed his admiration and gratitude to his staff who volunteered their time towards the success of the Mission Week activity at the local home for the elderly. He commented further, “As the number one telecommunications provider, we take our role in the community seriously, and the elderly are no exception to receiving our kindness and generosity, having contributed substantially to the country’s development”.
Stellous Dorival, one of the attending colleagues, spoke of the immense satisfaction he felt participating in the activities. It was particularly important to him having been raised by his grandparents. Sylvia Laurent who also cares for an elderly mother was happy for the opportunity to contribute her time to the residents of the infirmary.
To compliment the visit, a presentation of wholesale grocery items was made to the Dominica Infirmary to which the Director Clannis Jno Baptiste expressed gratitude to Flow. Ms. Jno-Baptiste was also thankful for a contribution of a Samsung Galaxy handset to support their communication requirements.
The Dominica Infirmary, a non-profit institution is home to ninety residents with four female and three male wards.
