Roseau, Dominica – (December 7, 2022) The Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) returned to Guadeloupe for Phase II of its French West Indies activation. The Authority led a delegation of local stakeholders and cultural representatives to Guadeloupe on December 2-3, 2022. The consumer show took place at the popular Destreland Shopping Mall, Guadeloupe and the DDA was also supported by its partners L’Express Des Isles, Navitour Agences and Air Antilles for this activity.
“It was important for us (Dominica) to return to Guadeloupe after our B2B event in July. From that first trade and press activity, we saw immediate results – one property confirmed 40% of its booked room nights for August came from the first phase of this activation and the demand from this source market for the World Creole Music Festival surpassed 2019’s. Similarly, collaboration with our partners at this phase is also critical to our 2023, plans and we’re appreciative of their support,” Kimberly King – Destination Marketing Manager.
Consumers had an opportunty to particpate in a contest to win a grand prize of a trip to Dominica sponsored by Jungle Bay and L’Express Des Isles. There were also special offers from participating hotels and tours for immediate booking at the Mall, and they are likely to be made available via BookingDominica also. From L-R, Avril Copiel (Rosalie Bay), Hans Schiders (Champs), Decima (Seaworld) and Kimberly King, Destination Marketing Manager, DDA.
The DDA also took the opportunity to offer a taste of Mas Domnik (Dominica’s Carnival) to Guadeloupe. On Friday night, patrons of the LaCaz’Art night club in Baie Mahault, had the opportunity of witnessing the Fresh Prince of Bouyon, REO perfom live. REO was also onsite at the Destreland Mall interacting with shoppers and stakeholders in the active promotion of the destination.
