Newly Formed Tarreau Disaster Management Committee

Roseau, Dominica – September 7, 2022. The community of Tarreau is now equipped with a newly formed Disaster Management Committee (DMC). This was made possible through the implementation of a project by the Dominica Red Cross Society (DCRS) to enhance the capacity of the residents to enable them to be better prepared, and respond to any emergency or disaster in their community.
Fourteen members of the community make up the Tarreau Disaster Management Committee. The members were trained in Disaster Management by the Red Cross and were provided with the tools and equipment for response. The Red Cross also assisted with the development of the Disaster Management Plan and Hazard Map of the Community.
Another aspect of the project is to mitigate against the bush fires which occur in that community on an annual basis during the dry season. The Red Cross, therefore, has been working with the Forestry Division in replanting of the hillside above the community prone to bush fires. To date well over 200 (hard wood and fruit) trees have been planted.
This project is made possible by the U.S. Forest Service Natural Infrastructure for Caribbean Resilience Program (NICaR).

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
