“As The Last Curtain Draws” by young writer Sherniah Alleyne is a book which focuses on the story of Valeria Whitlow and Johansen Carriere; modern day aristocrats, who bond over their shared need to escape from the stifling lifestyle of family legacies and forced hierarchy. Unbeknownst to the two, their families have an ongoing rivalry for decades that’ll bring many obstacles to their romance.
Alleyne, 19 of Bathe Estate said she was inspired to write the book after a conversation with her big sister who motivated her to write romance story where the characters do not have a happy ending.
The book targets romance, young adult and modern-retelling enthusiasts or anyone who enjoys a leisurely but heartstrings tugging read. It can be consumed by male and female readers from the age of 13+.
In an interview with EMO NEWS, she revealed to become a traditionally published author adding that from a young age, reading is what “awakened” her passion for writing.
“From a young age, I liked reading, whether it was a book with or without pictures, printed or e-version, fiction or non-fiction. On Wattpad, I have 1 complete 75,000-word fantasy-romance novel entitled ‘The Unwanted Vows’ and a few other works-in-progress namely ‘Twines of Deceit’ and ‘Regal Blood’. I hope to become a traditionally published author and reach many people with the words I am able to convey through my writing. I hope people can enjoy the story of Valeria and Johansen, and feel many emotions while reading their novella.”
Allyne plans on having many works in her name in the next 5 years including songs, inspiration books, full length novels and more novellas.
“I hope to finish my educational journey and embark on various ventures. I hope to open a platform where many local and young writers can showcase their works and their crafts.”
