ICWI AWARDS FIVE-YEAR SECONDARY SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP TO FORMER NEWTOWN PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENT

The Insurance Company of the West Indies has presented a full scholarship valued at EC$ 10, 000 over five years to 11-year-old Janiyah Irving.
The scholarship award ceremony took place at the company’s Roseau offices on Friday, August 12, 2022.
Janiyah Irving is a former student of the Newtown Primary School who attained a Pass in the June, 2022 Grade Six National Assessment. She will attend the Dominica Grammar School.
Manager of ICWI Dominica, Earl Edwards noted the contribution would relieve Janiyah and her family of a major part of the financial responsibility associated with her secondary school education.
“Today, we are committing to invest $10 000 into your five-year secondary school journey. The greater part of the investment has to come from you if you are to successfully complete this journey. The investment required on your part is your time and effort. Be diligent in your studies,” Edwards stated.
“We want to thank the Dominica public for their support and patronage. It is because of your continued patronage that we in turn have been able to increase the number of scholarships that we offer. It is one of our ways of giving back to the people who have made us their insurer of choice,” he added.
Since establishing offices in Dominica in November, 2019, ICWI has awarded five-year scholarships to four (4) students to attend secondary schools. The company has also supported other social causes including the sponsorship of the Dominica Cancer Society Awareness Drive.
