The Dominica Chess Federation has completed its first ever National Chess Championships and what an exciting journey it was.
After 7 rounds of fierce competition only one person could emerge the winner. Each round saw persons pushing themselves, with round 6 proving to be a very heated round with tension rising at one of the tables, as players vied to make it to final round.
The competition took place over a three day span, beginning Friday May 13 and ended Sunday May 15 at the Dominica State College.
The winner was determined by the player with the most points, with the point system being as follows:1 point for a win , 1/2 point for a draw , and 0 points for a loss; with each player receiving a ‘bye’ in different rounds that is a guaranteed 1 point for them.
