DSC Copped Second Placed at the 5th Annual Windward Islands Debating Competition

On Friday, April 29, 2022, Dominica State College copped second place at the 5th Annual Windward Islands Debating Competition. On day two of the competition, the College debated against St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, opposing the topic “Countries have a right to impose vaccine mandates to protect the health of their populations.” Hananel Valerie and Samine Darroux represented the College on Friday’s final, which was held virtually. The DSC advanced to the finals on Thursday after they defeated the Grenada (T.A Marryshow Community College) in preliminary one in a 609 to 603 victory.

Dominica State College captured the following awards:
Preliminary 1 Winner
Second place in the overall competition
Best Speaker Preliminary 1: Hananel Valerie
JA Irish Award for Best Overall Rebuttal: Hananel Valerie

The team was coached by Ms. Trudy Christian, Director of Student Services, DSC, and comprised of Noah James, Samine Darroux, Shawnalee Gordon, and Hananel Valerie.

The College congratulates the team for a splendid job and expresses gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Jays Bookstore Ltd., GEMS Holdings Ltd, and the National Bank of Dominica for sponsoring the team.
