Five Caribbean islands added to CDC’s list of very high-risk travel destinations

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has added five Caribbean islands to the list of high-risk travel destinations as of 24th January, 2022. These include Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Saint Barthelemy.

Notably, CDC considers a country very high risk or level four (4) when there are more than 500 cases per 100,000 residents within a 28-day period. Accordingly, the CDC strongly advises travelers from various destinations to avoid travelling to level four (4) countries.

Moreover, some other Caribbean countries which were already considered level four (4) countries include Turks and Caicos, Haiti, Barbados, Sint Maarten, the Bahamas, Curacao and the British Virgin islands. Given the ongoing increase of level four (4) destinations, it is advised that persons get vaccinated prior to international travel.

What is interesting however is that one week ago, a UK based advisory and marketing firm, CS Global Partners, rated the Commonwealth of Dominica as one of the safest countries in the Caribbean. More specifically, the island was considered the third safest country in the region and the 33rd safest country globally.

While this is so, Dominicans are encouraged to not let their guard down. Therefore, it is imperative that persons continue to safeguard their lives and that of others by continuing to adhere to the nations’ protocols. In that way, the nature island will continue to protect its position as one of the safest countries regionally and internationally.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
