Roseau, December 10, 2021 – The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Caribbean American Alliance (CAA) to strengthen and explore trade and investment opportunities between Dominica and the United States of America (USA). This MOU was signed at a virtual ceremony hosted on Thursday, December 9th, 2021.
In this partnership, DAIC has agreed to: share information on investment opportunities, serve as the liaison with public and private sector partners in Dominica, serve as reference for administrative and legal procedures for investments, and troubleshoot any trade issues that might occur.
DAIC is pleased to enter into this agreement with CAA in supporting the development of the private sector and looks forward to increased trade and investment opportunities and economic impact through this joint effort. CAA has indicated its willingness to ensure that DAIC, as a member of the alliance, capitalizes on all the opportunities that exist in the USA and the 26 countries in the Caribbean through its connections.
As a member of CAA, this positions DAIC to be able to have access to CAA signature programs, business matchmaking opportunities, eligibility to participate in Trade Missions, free admission to select networking meetings and events, member-to-member discounts, advertising opportunities (discounted) for promotion of business on all CAA platforms, among others.
Upcoming initiatives were identified as the sharing of best practices and support provided to businesses in Dominica to increase exports to the US, a Forum to present trade and investment opportunities available in Dominica, and a trade mission to Dominica in Summer of 2022. The partners identified the trade mission opportunity to this partnership as a result of the new American Airlines flight between Miami and Dominica. The partners express gratitude to the Government of Dominica and American Airlines for making this new direct flight connection possible.
The Board of Directors and Secretariat remain committed to leveraging this opportunity for the advancement of the DAIC membership and invite members to leverage this partnership for increased business success.
