DHWA and DAIC Launches Health and Wellness Campaign to Boost Immune Systems during Caribbean Wellness Month

The Dominica Health and Wellness Association (DHWA) and the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) are collaborating on a health and wellness campaign for the month of September to support all citizens and residents of Dominica in boosting their immune systems. This campaign will be held from September 1-30, 2021 as the partners contribution to Caribbean Wellness Month.

As Dominica currently navigates its way through the Covid pandemic, it is imperative that all citizens take measures to protect and enhance their health and wellbeing. Whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, one of the most effective ways of combating the virus is to boost the immune system by eating healthy foods, increasing exercise and physical activity, and building a positive mindset coupled with adequate selfcare.

As such, the partners invite all to join the three challenges as part of this campaign targeting: Food, Fitness and Mindset in efforts to increase wellness in 30 days and build habits that continue as a lifestyle long after. By incorporating these simple actions into our lifestyle, we will build healthier bodies to withstand the impact of Covid as well as reduce non-communicable diseases and enjoy all the other benefits of a healthy life. Each challenge has a monthly calendar with simple tips to do each day.

The top participants of the challenges will be recognized at the end of the campaign. As such, participants are encouraged to share daily activities via social media with the corresponding campaign hashtag: #DominicaWellnessChallenge. The three challenges also have separate hashtags of  #DominicaFoodChallenge, #DominicaFitnessChallenge, and #DominicaMindsetChallenge. Participants can choose to do just one challenge or all three!

Participants who share via social media will receive one point per day for their efforts and more if they participate in the ongoing extra live challenges that will be available throughout the month. Businesses are also strongly encouraged to participate with their staff and have their own in-house challenges using the monthly guides. Participation from the public sector is also strongly encouraged. This campaign will build a resistance to the virus and foster a healthier workforce and community.

During the Month, practitioners from DHWA will host virtual activities to complement the challenges and daily activities. All are encouraged to join these activities to increase awareness of the opportunities available.
Join the partners on September 1-30 in this essential enhancement of health, wellness, and vitality in the Nature Island! Let us strive to be the Healthiest Nation in the World!  For more information during the month, visit the Facebook pages Dominicawellness and DominicaChamberDAIC.
