Nature Island Riders elects first Female President

The Nature Island Riders Motorcycle Club (NIR MC) held its annual election on Saturday 5th June 2021 at Tortis Bar located on Donkey Beach in Canefield. The club members elected its first female President Ms. Kaya Cuffy. Prior to that, she served as Secretary to the club for two (2) years. Ms. Cuffy who has been a bike rider for over 10 years, is one of the few female motorcycle riders in Dominica.  

The fifteen (15) committee members for June 2021-2022 are: 

President                      – Ms. Kaya Cuffy 

Vice President              – Mr. Timaeus Garraway 

Treasurer                     – Mr. Stefan “Stefcury” Royer 

Assistant Treasurer      – Mr. Heskeith “Keith”Bellot 

Secretary                      – Ms. Shanon “Shanz” Joseph 

Assistant Secretary       – Ms. Andria “Drea” Esprit 

PRO                             – Kenton “Kenty” St. Jean 

Sergeant of Arms         – Nial “Pow” Powel 

Road Captains             – Kenson Alexander

   Chavel “Pisse” Laurent

   Glenroy “Kalash” Harry 

General Members        –Anthony “Punch” Ricketts

   Mandel Gregoire

   Angus George

   Dwight Phat-i” Trottman 

Immediate past President Mr. Carlos Charles wished Ms. Cuffy and her committee all the best for the new year and pledge his support to assist wherever if the needs arise.   Past Vice President Glendon “Muscover” Samuel said, “Congratulations to the new committee. The road ahead will be easy with the support of all the members. I will be available to share or discuss any ideas if needed.” 

The newly elected President stated that she looks forward to serving as the President of the club for the next year along with the rest of the committee. We hope to have more visibility in Dominica by hosting more activities etc. and engaging in positive works. However, safety is always first, therefore whatever activities we plan, we will abide by the established Covid protocols. She also encourages all bike riders and their pillion to always wear safety gears. And other road users should be on the lookout for bikers.  

The NIR committee will serve for one year. Any persons interested in joining the club can contact the club directly via Email nirmcriderz@gmail.com or any of its members.
