The Calypso Fraternity in Dominica is morning the passing of George ‘Mighty Acre’ Jervier.
Mighty Acre is known for such hits as ‘Papa Bon Dieu; Mahé; Mizik Dominik Dou; Boob-Boom Supreah’
Public Relations Officer if the Dominica Calypso Association, Emmanuel ‘Haxey’ Salamat said, “Mighty Acre, was a great musician who brought the simplest pleasures of life out in his music. The calypso fraternity has lost a great soldier because he was one who was always around helping others to perfect their artform. Actually, he was very much responsible for me putting so much creole in my big Road March song ‘Sa Ki Sa’w Say Sa’w’ and up to now, I make sure I include creole in all my songs. When we listen to his last single ‘Papa Bon Dieu’, we experience the magic of his creation and its simplicity. Simply words, simple style and great infectious music.
The Dominica Calypso Association pay homage to this brother and his great contribution to the artform. As he looks down on us, his music will live forever in our hearts and lives. Papa Acre, the son of Papa Bon Dieu!”
Emonews extends condolences to the family and friends of the Mighty Acre.
