Statement by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investment

The Government of Dominica, through the Ministry of Health, has consistently made it clear that the vaccines against COVID 19 will be made available to every Dominican who wants it. We have also gone further to state that these vaccines will also be available to every resident – no matter their legal status in the country.

Having stated clearly a policy of no-questions-asked vaccine access, it will be obviously absurd to then put a political twist on it, as the United Workers party has suggested in a recent release on the issue.

The statement is unfortunate, coming at a time when the government is seeking to use every organization in the community to help it mobilize people to be prepared to get vaccinated.

This time of challenge amidst this raging global pandemic calls for unprecedented national unity and cooperation, and we once again call on all the players to do their part in this noble endeavor.

We have built a public health infrastructure that will be able to administer the biggest vaccination campaign in the history of this country.

Everyone wanting to do so, can register to be vaccinated at any one of the major health centers, or through the online portal.

But we believe there is also a role for every social organization, and we therefore once again call on every one of them, including the United Workers Party, to help in this national mobilization effort.

At this important juncture in our history, we welcome the hands of every person and every organization.

A Parliamentary Representative is an elected member pursuant to our constitution. The office space is provided by the parliament to assist the Parliamentary Representative in the carrying out of his/her own duties.

The Ministry of Health commends those parliamentary representatives who have been using their best efforts to inform, educate their constituents on the importance of the vaccine and to mobilize them to get vaccinated.

We are absolutely clear that one way out of this pandemic is for the mass vaccination of our people.

This will be successfully achieved only by sowing the seeds of unity, and not division and suspicion.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
