Wayne ‘Benjie N20’ Benjamin Is Cultural Ambassador

Hon. Edward Registe announced on Wednesday that the Cabinet has approved Wayne ‘Benjie N20’ Benjamin of the Triple K Band as Cultural Ambassador of Dominica.

He explained, “Cultural ambassadors are distinguished individuals carefully selected from various fields including art, literature, science, entertainment, sports and other fields of public endeavor who have agreed to promote Dominica’s culture, nature, people and avenues for continued development”.

Benjie N20 as he is referred to in the entertainment arena is known globally for Bouyon music as part of the Triple K Band. He also placed second in the Soca Monarch competition in 2009. He has also volunteered as a mentor to youth and underprivileged persons, is a member of the Fond Cole Development Committee and a councillor of the Roseau City Council.

Registe said that Cultural Ambassadors are expected to volunteer their time and talent to the cause worldwide, and could assist in the mobilization of resources to assist Dominica.

The title of Ambassador will run for two years in the first instance.

Other Cultural Ambassadors include Asa Banton and the late Jeff Joseph.
