Minister Advocates For More Females In Police Force

Minister for National Security and Home Affairs, Hon.Rayburn Blackmore said that in the year 2020 females must be included in any recruiting done by the Police Force.

The Minister said that he has spoken to the previous Police Chief and the present one to voice his concerns.

According to him, female trainees must be included in the 50 additional officers presently being recruited for the police force.

He said, “I will not sign off on the training of men alone in 2020. If we are building a Police Force, it has to be all inclusive”. The Minister said further that society has been guided by a male dominated idea evident in the fact that officers are most commonly referred to as policemen instead of police officers.

It is his belief that women are able ‘to perform as equally as well as men, once given the opportunity’.

He thanked the Prime Minister for consenting to pay for the housing of the female officers and the Police Chief for following through with the plans to include females in the recruiting process.
