We also have Bruno’s Driving School from Portsmouth, and Copee Driving School
from Woodford Hill.

DDSIA has five objectives.  Firstly, to represent its members’ interests in our dealings with government and non-government institutions and other organizations that have a role to play in the Driver Education industry. Secondly, to work with the government to ensure that the Driver Education industry has appropriate, consistent, and reasonable regulations that will enable driver educators to provide a high level of teaching, operate on safer roads, and conduct their business professionally. Thirdly, to provide a platform where its members can educate themselves and deliberate amongst each other critical issues concerning the Driving Education industry.  Fourthly, to encourage its members to conduct themselves in an excellent professional way at all times that will lead to greater public trust and confidence in our Driving Schools. And lastly, to work and cooperate with legislators, agencies, and other groups to bring about new regulations that will make our roads safer for the motoring public and pedestrians at large.

To all aspiring drivers out there and the general public, the Dominica Driving School Instructors Association is here to provide you with quality, professional service, and responsible teaching. DDSIA is also here to ensure that aspiring drivers are empowered with the knowledge and equipped with all skills to keep themselves and the motoring Public safe, once they are by themselves on the road as newly licensed drivers.

Finally, here is a message for all experienced drivers on our roads:  Please exercise some patience when encountering a learner on the road. You were once a learner too.  Please don’t harass them by speeding up, honking your horns, overtaking them around corners, stop lines, and intersections as such actions can create some tense situation for the learner and the instructor.

To my colleagues, I encourage you to be truthful to your duties as instructors. I also urge you to provide a high standard of service. It would also be great for you to set proper schedules, keep your appointments, always be on time, know your students well, and take notes of their performances. Remember that you are more than just an instructor; you are also a motivator and a counselor.  You are also supposed to build your students’ self-esteem and self-confidence.
The comprehensive learning experience that professional driving instructors like us provide to our students will mold new generations of drivers who are ready to take on responsible driving  and confidently navigate unexpected situations in our challenging road networks.

In Conclusion the Association with its objectives will help improve the standards of driving on the Nature Island, also ensuring that every student is taught with the highest standards, and that our roads are safe to the motoring public and pedestrians.
