I love Reading, Says Top Student In G6NAT

The top five students of this years Grade Six National Achievement Test (G6NAT) were announced on Monday morning at a press conference held by the Ministry of Education. The students, representing various catholic schools around the island, all received three As in the condensed examinations.

The studnets are Anyella Birmingham of St. Martin Primary, Syreina Harris of St. Luke’s Primary, Kenilee Baron of St. John’s Primary, Dinari Samuel of St. Mary’s Primary and Therese LeBlanc of Convent Preparatory School.

A total of 846 students, 391 females and 455 males wrote the examinations. This year the Government of Dominica has awarded 64 scholarships of $1000 each and 114 bursaries of $700 each.

Anyella Birmingham, who  earned the number one position thanked God, her family and fellow classmates who all played a part in her success.

She said further, “I feel joyful that all my hard work payed off. Some children don’t like to read but I find joy in reading. Reading helped me in English and Comprehension which are the top subjects”.

This year the examinations were condensed into three papers instead of the usual four because of the COVID-19  pandemic.
