Dominican Students Achieve Highest Honors At Monroe

Truly resilient: Dominican students continue to be among the top performers at Monroe college.

One such student is Tallia Celestine from the community of Vieille Case. Celestine, a former student of the Portsmouth Secondary School class of 2011, completed a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Summa Cum Laude.

She also was on the President’s list for 6 consecutive Semesters. Celestine is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice.

She says, “After the murder of my brother in 2010, I developed a keen interest for the Criminal Justice System. I’m extremely passionate about juvenile justice reform. With my newfound knowledge, I aim to influence positive changes in the system especially in the lives of juvenile delinquents who are in dire need of treatment and rehabilitation.

Melinda Austrie who also graduated with a BS in Public Health, Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA, takes her life quote from Colon Powel; “A dream does not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work”.
