The Minister with the responsibility for National Security, Hon.Rayburn Blackmore has said that Dominicans who are stranded overseas may begin to return home from July 15, which is the tentative date for the reopening of Dominica’s borders for commercial flights. Non-nationals may be able to enter Dominica from August 17.
He said, “Your government…has not taken the decision to immediately reopen our borders but instead has put in place a well thought-of time horizon with proper methods and protocols to reopen our borders [on] July 15th and August 7th.”
According to the Minister, these dates are tentative and may change based on circumstances surrounding the control and management of the spread of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Health Minister, Hon. DR. Irving McIntyre says that while we are not under curfew, we must still be vigilant and practice proper hygiene.
He said, “We in the Ministry of Health are thanking you the public for your cooperation and compliance so far in fighting this Covid-19 pandemic, but we are again pleading with you the public, be diligent and do not become complacent.We must not let down our guard because that is the only way we can ensure our safety and the best outcome possible as regards to Covid-19.”
McIntyre said that businesses and churches must continue to adhere to COVID-19 measures especially the wearing of masks and hand hygiene.
