Minister of National Security Issues Call To Police In Light Of Illegal Departure By Haitian Immigrants

Minister for National Security and Home Affairs, Rayburn Blackmoore says that while Dominica has welcomed Haitian Immigrants, the practice of departing the country illegally has caught the attention of overseas authorities and needs to be addressed here.”

The leaders of the various countries have been calling and expressing their disgust. So we have a responsibility,  a collective responsibility, as recent as the 28 of this month, a number of Haitians coming from Dominica were actually arrested in the BVI…It’s not something that’s new but we have a responsibility, especially now with COVID, to actually treat this thing very seriously with the ultimate force of the Law and I’m not ruling out having the police rounding up all undocumented Haitian nationals to have them return to their country as soon as possible”.

The Minister sent a stern warning to Dominicans who encourage Haitian nationals in the practice of illegal departure or ‘back door’.
