Dominican Reggae artist, Kestar Toussaint who goes by the stage name Simba Orkestra has released his video ‘My Island Bless’ on reggaeville.
Toussaint who is originally from the village of Pointe Michel says that music is in his family, seeing that his father had been a horn player for the First Serenade band. He has many years in the industry and has performed locally at numerous shows including Queen Ifrica and Aima.
He explains that the inspiration behind his stage name is partly from a friend who made fun of his name Kestar, while Simba is his rastafarian name that he got from a book of names in Swahili.
Reggae became his musical genre because he is Rasta and he loves to sing about Jah and life situations and experiences.
My Island Bless us a celebration of Dominica and all that Dominica is blessed with; nature and the ability to regenerate itself within a few years after a major disaster like Hurricane Maria. Simba Orkestra who has a degree in public and private administration says that he is present working on two other songs to be released soon and hopes to raise funds in order to release an album. He says that he will go wherever the music leads.
