The Ministry of Health is the recipient of 3,000 Rapid Diagnostic Test(RDT) kits and 50 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test kits from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Venezuela’s ambassador to Dominica, His Excellency Jose Durabio Moros Savelli said that this is a sign of solidarity between friends.
“I ask God that this humble gesture of solidarity between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Commonwealth of Dominica sends a message of unity and fraternity because we are in this together.”
Minister for Health, Wellness and New Health Investment, Hon. Irving McIntyre expressed gratitude to the Government of Venezuela for the gift, especially in light of all that they(Venezuela) are experiencing themselves.
He said, “What makes it even more significant is when you consider the geopolitical scenario and the economic sanctions put against Venezuela and in spite of all this, the Republic can come to our assistance…We’re just so grateful.”
The official handing over ceremony was held on Tuesday 14, April.
