A medical cargo flight brought much needed relief supplies to Dominica from the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

The donation which included 1,536 test kits and 30,000 surgical masks was sponsored by Jack Ma and Alibaba Foundation in China.
Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Dominica, Ambassador Lu Kun, said that the Foundation is also in the process of purchasing ventilators for Dominica and have given their word that more medical supplies will be donated. He said however, that the shipping of the donations is a major challenge since Dominica is far away from China and many flights have been suspended. He added that although there are limited flights, they are trying their best to bring the necessary aid into Dominica.
Meanwhile, Minister for Health, Hon.Irving McIntyre thanked the Government of the People’s Republic of China for the donation. He said that these supplies are in high demand Internationally and the Government of the People’s Republic of China is making them available to us.
The Minister said that the donation means a lot and will go towards protecting our front line staff. The supplies will make it easier and better for our frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19.
Ambassador Lu Kun wished Dominica all the best in the fight against COVID-19.
