The Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has concluded a two day Pesticide Inspectors Workshop from the 2-3 of March.
According to Director of Agriculture, Ricky Brumant, the workshop’s purpose was to introduce participants to the Inspectors Manual which is a regional manual developed fr use by inspectors of pesticides.
He said the workshop is a timely one considering Dominica’s push to becoming the firs climate resilient nation in the world and the ministry’s goal toward environmental care and preservation.
The workshop was conducted by Therese yarde, FAO consultant to the region and was attended by key stakeholders including Extension Officers, Environmental Health Officers, members of the Pesticide Control Board and persons involved in the importation, storage and distribution of pesticides.
The Workshop, intended at building capacity for pesticide inspection and control falls under Phase two of the Regional Pesticide Management Project of the Global Environmental Fund (GEF).
