WOODBRIDGE, USA — Joseph Allen, 55 of New Jersey has become the ninth American tourist to die under suspicious circumstances while vacationing in the Dominican Republic (DR), the US State Department has verified.
Allen was discovered lifeless in his hotel room at Terra Linda resort in the town of Sosua June 13, a State Department representative verified.

However; he was not a guest at the same resort where multiple other Americans have died, several of them after consuming drinks from the hotel minibar. According to reports, those travellers died at the Bahia Principe resort; the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is presently probing whether they consumed bootleg or tainted liquor. There are also no records of Allen consuming drinks from the minibar where he visited.
Allen, acknowledged as Joe by his loved ones, was visiting the Dominican Republic to celebrate a colleague’s birthday, according to widespread media reports. Allen said he felt like he had a fever the night of June 12, while at the resort.
Jamie Reed, Allen’s sister, told reporters that colleagues stated her brother lamented about being hot at the pool. Allen stated he was returning to his room to take a shower. When his colleagues returned, Allen said he wasn’t feeling 100 percent again and stated he was going to lie down for the night.
