A Flash Flood Watch means flash flooding is possible.
The Meteorological Service has EXTENDED
- The Flash Flood Watch for Dominica
- Until 12 p.m. Saturday June 1st, 2019.
- A trough system is projected to maintain moist and unstable conditions across Dominica particularly during tonight into tomorrow. The forecast is for cloudiness with shower activity which could be moderate to heavy at times and possible isolated thunderstorms during the period.
- Satellite and radar imagery indicated that light to moderate shower activity affected the island during the afternoon while moderate to heavy showers continued mainly over the waters of Dominica. Current projection is for rainfall amounts of between 2-3 inches or (50-75mm). The FLASH FLOOD WATCH has therefore been EXTENDED to 12pm Saturday June 1st.
People in areas that are prone to flooding, landslide and falling rocks should continue to exercise caution during the period. Those in areas which have been experiencing excessively dry conditions over the past months should be especially mindful of landslides and rockfalls.
The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation and provide the necessary updates as conditions warrant.
