It was as if one was at an English Premier League game as the youth from the constituency came onto the stage in true Premier League fashion to usher their very own, ‘Josie or Homeboy’ as he is affectionately known, unto the stage.
The former employee of Ross University and the Princess Margaret Hospital wowed the crowd with his medical terminology. Referring to the ruling party he said, “Their vision has become myopic and they can no longer see, their condition is no longer treatable, there is a need for surgical intervention, I think they need an amputation”. The crowd was quite pleased with the Doctor’s humour.
He then moved on to more serious matters as he spoke of his plans for the constituency which includes a state of the art health facility, a processing plant for agricultural produce and the reintroduction of youth skills training programs and adult education classes.
He spoke of his passion for sports and warned Team Dominica that Sports must be a top priority. He also spoke of his passion for the young people and the farmers. He pointed out that he is truly ‘homegrown’ as he went to the Primary School close to the location of the event and played sports right at the location of his declaration.
The skills he developed right there enabled him to represent Dominica as a footballer at the tender age of 15/16 years old. He recognizes that the people of the constituency again has the power to effect change. Dr. Cuffy goes up against Gretta Roberts of the Dominica Labour Party who was launched a few weeks ago.
