DCMA Calls on Political Parties and Supporters to Respect Media Professionals

The Dominica Media and Communications Association (DMCA) is calling on all political parties and their supporters to respect media professionals on the island.

The DMCA condemns the social media attacks of some of Dominica’s most prominent media personalities, as well as the recent escalation of abusive language and hostility on talk shows on various media outlets.

The DMCA also calls on all media personalities to conduct themselves in a manner that does not reflect negatively on the profession. While on the job, it is imperative that media professionals not openly display partisanship.

The role of the media is to acquire and disseminate information, therefore, it is essential that these matters be addressed immediately and the behavior on both sides ceased as the country heads into what is expected to be a heated 2020 election campaign.

The DMCA takes this opportunity to wish every Dominican a safe, incident-free Mas Domnik 2019.
