The Association of Dominicans in the North-east United States (ADNExUS) has made a donation of 18 sewing machines to local company, Royal Globe Inc. The donation will facilitate the company’s training programs in sewing and other related vocational skills.
ADNEXUS is an organization formed by members of the Dominican diaspora residing in New Jersey, United States, for the purpose of giving back to the Dominican society by supporting ventures that the organization believes can help to elevate the status of Dominicans and improve the lives and livelihood of all concerned.
President of the organization, Sylma Brown, says “ADNExUS collaborates with other civic groups in the area – Dominica United Cricket Club, Know Your Culture Dance Troupe, Northeast Wesley USA Chapter, and North American Association for the Advancement of La Plaine – and is pleased to provide assistance to Dominicans to help them move toward self-sufficiency through its Pay It Forward program.”
ADNExUS acknowledges the symbiotic connection with Royal Globe’s training program in sewing and humbly supports this initiative which enables it to deliver on one of its key objectives of uplifting and empowering Dominicans at home. “We look forward to continuing to work together to make a difference in programs across the island.”
“I am very grateful to ADNExUS for the donation to Royal Globe Inc.” says founder, Avena Prince. “This donation will definitely enhance the quality of our training programs in 2019 and beyond. Adults and children participating in our programs, especially in the Adult Sewing Classes and Children’s Sewing Club, will now benefit from more additional hands-on practice in class.”
Royal Globe Inc. is an education and garment manufacturing company which offers training in vocational skills and operates a garment brand ‘Vee’s Couture.’ In addition to providing high quality and locally designed and fabricated garments The organization aims to help persons to become self-employed and to increase their income by teaching vocational skills which are quick to learn and easy to master.
The company is also concerned with motivating entrepreneurs and in August 2018 conducted an entrepreneurship workshop dubbed ‘Going Global with My Business – A Changed Mindset’ which was sponsored by the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
On this topic, Prince says ‘More is in store for entrepreneurs as we will be hosting our Entrepreneurship Forum throughout 2019. With the goal of providing entrepreneurs and entrepreneur hopefuls with much-needed information on business organization.’
