The public is informed that on the final count of the votes on Tuesday September 8th 2026, for the By-elections in the Roseau north constituency which was held on Monday September 7th 2026, the result of the poll are as follows:

ABOUT THE ROSEAU NORTH BY-ELECTION
What is a By-election?
A by-election is an election held to fill a vacant seat in Parliament between general elections.
Unlike a general election, where representatives are elected across the country, a by-election is held in a specific constituency where the seat of a Parliamentary Representative has become vacant.
Why was a By-election held in Roseau North?
The Roseau North Parliamentary seat became vacant following the resignation of the Honourable Miriam Blanchard as Parliamentary Representative for the constituency on June 12, 2026.
Under the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Dominica, when the seat of a Representative becomes vacant for a reason other than the dissolution of Parliament, a by-election must be held to fill the vacancy within three months, unless Parliament is dissolved before that period.
The Roseau North By-election therefore provides electors in the constituency with the opportunity to elect a new Parliamentary Representative to serve in the House of Assembly of Dominica.
The President subsequently issued the Writ for the election of a member for the Roseau North Constituency pursuant to Section 12 of the House of Assembly (Elections) Act. Polling day was Monday, September 7, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The final count of ballots cast was conducted on Tuesday, 8th September 2026. Following the count, Ashma McDougall of the Dominica Labour Party was declared the successful candidate.
The other Candidates were, Daniel Andrew Lugay of the Dominica and Sherman Boston- independent candidate.
The Election at a Glance
The Roseau North By-election was contested by three candidates.
The Electoral Office has established 28 polling stations across the 10 polling districts within the constituency.
The election allowed eligible electors of Roseau North to determine who will represent the constituency in the House of Assembly for the remainder of the current parliamentary term.
