The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Commonwealth of Dominica commemorated National Rebellion Day with a ceremony held at its diplomatic headquarters, attended by members of the Dominica Guild of Cuban Graduates and the Dominica-Cuba Friendship Association—organizations that have for years promoted friendship and cooperative ties between the two peoples.
The keynote address was delivered by Cuba’s ambassador to Dominica, Miguel Fraga, who provided an analysis of the complex situation the country is currently facing. During his remarks, he explained the consequences of the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, with special emphasis on the oil embargo and the severe hardships these measures cause the population. He also denounced the growing risks stemming from the hostile policy and threats directed at the island by President Donald Trump’s administration.
The head of the diplomatic mission also highlighted the firm support that the international community continues to express for the Cuban people, as evidenced once again recently at the United Nations, where the overwhelming majority of member states once again spoke out in favor of lifting the blockade, once more highlighting the isolation of U.S. policy on this issue.
During the ceremony, Dr. Damien Dublin, member of the Dominica Guild of Cuban Graduates, was honored by the Guild for consistent, long and dedicated service and sustained contribution to sustained contribution to strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and Dominica, as well as for his unwavering support for the Cuban Revolution.
On behalf of the organizations present, several participants reaffirmed their solidarity with Cuba and reiterated their commitment to continue supporting the defense of the Caribbean nation’s sovereignty in the face of the coercive measures imposed by the United States.
The event highlighted the historic ties that bind Cuba and Dominica, forged over decades of mutual respect, cooperation, and reciprocal support, as well as the shared commitment to continue strengthening that relationship.
