Minister of Finance Marinka Gumbs has confirmed that the Government of Saint Maarten has received approximately Cg. 6.5 million from Princess Juliana International Airport Operating Company (PJIAE), representing passenger safety fees collected on behalf of the Government between 2019 and the first quarter of 2026.
The payment follows the successful resolution of longstanding discussions regarding outstanding transfers and brings PJIAE fully up to date with its obligations to the Government.
Minister Gumbs welcomed the payment, noting that the funds are now properly accounted for and available for their intended purpose. The passenger safety fee was introduced to support civil aviation oversight in Sint Maarten.
Although the proposed Civil Aviation Authority has not yet been formally established, oversight responsibilities continue to be carried out by the Department of Civil Aviation within the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT).
The Minister confirmed that the funds will be held in a dedicated account and reserved for aviation-related purposes until the Civil Aviation Authority becomes operational.
She also thanked PJIAE and all stakeholders involved in resolving the matter, describing the outcome as an example of responsible financial management and the Government’s commitment to ensuring that public funds are properly transferred, safeguarded, and used in the best interest of the people of Saint Maarten.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
