It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for life that we announce the passing of Dawn Jolly (affectionately known as Auntie Dorne), at the age of 79.
Dawn Jolly was a beloved sister, Mother, Aunty and friend whose life touched countless people across the Caribbean, America and the world. She peacefully transitioned from this life on May 5th, 2026, at her home in Stone Mountain, Georgia USA.
Born in St. Joseph village, on the Commonwealth of Dominica West Indies, as Dorne [Margaret-Rose] Jolly on August 22nd, 1946. She was the beloved daughter of Leonard and Elizabeth Jolly, otherwise known as (Nado and Ma Nado.)
She was very dedicated to family, especially close to her mother, Ma Nado, which she lived with until she was married.
She worked with her brother Andy Jolly in the world-famous Jolly’s Pharmacy for some time before eventually migrating to the United States with the help of her other brothers Mr. Pelham and Dr. Curtis Jolly.
She carried a vibrant spirit, rich with generosity, and unwavering warmth of love with her wherever she went, even though facing many challenges in life. She took advantage of the opportunity to make her living conditions better and decided to migrate from her beloved island in the Caribbean, eventually making the Bronx, New York her home for many years.
After some health challenges, her son took her to live with him in Washington, D.C. for several years before moving again and ultimately making Stone Mountain, Georgia her cherished home for many years before transitioning.
Dawn possessed a godly spirit of cleanliness and of order, management and a relentless work ethic. For Many years, she worked as a home health aide, where she touched countless lives with her compassion, wisdom, and signature hospitality. To know her was to be embraced by her generosity; no one ever left her home hungry, and she always had something to offer and a listening ear for anyone in need.
As a woman who loved her entire family very much, Auntie Dorne was devoted to her child, extended family and her grandchildren. To her siblings, nieces, and nephews, she was a sister, auntie and grandmother figure, but also a confidant and encourager, always ready to offer advise support or simply a listening ear.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Dawn was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. She lived her life as a living testament to the virtues of love, patience, and resilience. She was the steady, grounding heart of her family, known for constant praying, infectious laughter, sense of style and wonderfully stubborn independence. She was very spiritual and prayed for her family and loved ones all of the time. Whether she was cooking, sharing a helping hand in something or simply sharing stories with loved ones, her presence filled the room with joy and comfort.
Dawn was small in stature but displayed the epitome of strength and resilience. She fought and beat cancer twice before in her life. However, as she continued in age, her health challenges started to become exhausting. Though cancer slowly took her physical strength, in her later years, it only deepened her spiritual resolve. She faced her illness with remarkable grace and hope, demonstrating to everyone around her to “let go and let God.”
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her son and daughter-in-law, her grandchildren, her siblings and her countless nieces, nephews, cousins, stepsons and step daughters, extended family, and dear friends across the globe.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her extraordinary legacy on May 30th, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi, located at 600 Mountain View Drive Stone Mountain, Georgia. The interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery, 5170 E Ponce De Leon Ave Stone Mountain, Georgia 30083.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
