Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency Executive Director Elizabeth Riley recently welcomed a Spanish delegation led by Cristina Pérez during a courtesy call at the agency’s headquarters in Barbados.
The visit provided an opportunity for discussions on strengthening cooperation between Spain and CDEMA in support of disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, preparedness, and regional coordination initiatives across the Caribbean.
During the meeting, Ms. Riley emphasized the importance of sustained partnerships in enhancing regional resilience and advancing Comprehensive Disaster Management priorities amid increasing climate and disaster risks affecting the region.
Ambassador Pérez was accompanied by Álvaro Borrega and Jordi Galbe of the Spanish Cooperation Agency. Members of the CDEMA management team also participated in the discussions.
The meeting explored opportunities for future collaboration in areas such as resilience-building, disaster preparedness, recovery planning, and institutional strengthening aimed at supporting safer and more resilient Caribbean communities.
