The Lupus Foundation of Dominica proudly joins the global community in observing Lupus Awareness Month throughout May and World Lupus Day on May 10, 2026, under the theme:
“Make Lupus Visible, Strides for Change.”
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects many individuals and families across Dominica. This month provides an important opportunity to raise awareness, promote early detection, and support those living with the condition.
As part of this year’s observance, the Foundation is inviting the general public, organizations, and communities across the island to “Put on Purple” every Friday in May as a symbol of solidarity with lupus warriors and to help bring visibility to this often-invisible illness.
The Foundation will officially open the month of activities with a Lupus Warrior Balloon Release; the event details are as follows:
Event: Lupus Warrior Balloon Release
Date: Friday, May 1st, 2026
Time: 5:00 PM
Location: Bayfront, Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard
This special event will honorthe strength and resilience of lupus warriors while remembering the loved ones we have lost to the illness. Please note that a limited number of balloons will be available for release. Members of the public are warmly invited to attend and participate in this meaningful moment of reflection and unity.
Throughout the month, the Lupus Foundation of Dominica will continue its mission to support, educate, and motivate, while advocating for improved understanding and care for persons living with lupus.
The Foundation encourages everyone to stand together this May—wear purple, share knowledge, and show compassion—as we work collectively to make lupus visible and stride toward meaningful change.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
