Death Announcement of Theresa Leatham (née Jarvis), affectionately known as “Teacher Baby” and “Ma Kinnard” of Grand Bay.

A Celebration of a Life Well Lived!

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Theresa Leatham (née Jarvis), affectionately known as “Teacher Baby” and “Ma Kinnard” of Grand Bay.

Mrs. Leatham was a dedicated educator and retired Principal whose passion for teaching and service touched the communities of Morne Jaune, Pichlen, Vielle Case, Calibishie, Trafalgar and Grand Bay. Her legacy of mentorship, discipline, and care will forever be remembered.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kinnard Leatham, and her son, Kirwan Leatham.

She leaves to mourn her four children:

Theresa Shillingford, Tedina Leatham (USA), Dr. Kinnard Leatham (USA), and Kirti Leatham (USA).

She also leaves behind seven grandchildren:

Gareth Leatham, Dr. Devi Shillingford, Sheri Shillingford-Sorhaindo, Nita Shillingford, Keenan Leatham, Kevin Leatham, and Kaiden Leatham.

She will be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren:

Sherlanie and Garvin Leatham, Mia Shillingford Elick, and Kai Sorhaindo.

She leaves to mourn her sister-in-law, Theresa Leatham in Bagatelle; son-in-law, Arthur Shillingford; and daughter-in-law, Diane Bathersfield Leatham.

She was lovingly cared for by her devoted caregivers:

Emaline Paswell, Pamela Leatham-Horsford, and Eunica Baron.

She also leaves to mourn a large extended family of nieces and nephews, including:

Robert Eugene, Avandale Shillingford, Jennifer, Bernadine, Hazel, Valerie, Stephen and Keith Fontaine, Angela Henry, Benoit and Peter Ellick, Heather, Dorito, Marie Chauseau, Naomi, Dorian, Dwight Leatham, and many others.

She will be remembered with great affection by her dear neighbors and close friends:

Ann John Lewis, Dr. Andy St. Hilaire, Mcline JohnRose, Jane Dangleben, Johnson Baron, Louvin, Sharon, and others.

She is further survived by a wide circle of family and friends, including:

Theophas Alexander, Lulu, Evo Leatham and family, Vanessa, Octavie and family, Joachim, Doll Merrifield, Teacher Evans James, Caryle George, Mr. Winnie and family, the Francis and Sonorette Bruney family of Coulibistrie, the Balthazar Barry family residing in Maryland, Peter, Thelia and Suzanne Remy of Trafalgar, the children of Francilla and James Cuffy, the children of Carmie Jarvis, the Alexander family of Grand Bay, Shirley Peters, Barnabas, Patricia Ambo of Salisbury, the Tavernier family of Scottshead, as well as many others too numerous to mention, including her past students and colleagues.

She will be deeply missed by the teaching fraternity and all whose lives she touched.

The funeral of Mrs. Theresa Leatham will be held at the Sacred Space, Grand Bay, on Friday, April 17th, 2026. Viewing begins at 2:30 p.m., followed by the funeral mass at 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Grand Bay Roman Catholic Cemetery.
