The Kalinago Council is currently putting measures in place for the implementation of a new permit system for non-Kalinago individuals seeking to visit or stay within the Kalinago Territory. This proposed measure is aimed at enhancing the protection of the community, its cultural heritage, and ancestral lands.
Under the proposed policy, non-Kalinago visitors would be required to obtain a permit from the Kalinago Council for the duration of their stay in the Territory. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to assert the rights and responsibilities of the Kalinago people as stewards of their land and to ensure that all activities within the Territory align with the values, traditions, and safety of the community.
