Death announcement of Sylvia Saint Warrington Jacobs better known as “Sysil”, and “Ma Jake”, who died on 23rd January 2026, at the age of 91.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Saint Warrington Jacobs better known as “Sysil”, and “Ma Jake”, who died on 23rd January 2026, at the age of 91.

She was from Calibishie, Dominica, but last resided on Union Rd, Hatton in Antigua.

She Leaves to mourn her children Hilliariah and Roosevelt Jacobs of Antigua, and Deborah Jacobs-Williams and husband Ewart Williams of South Carolina in the US.

Grandmother to Stacy Lyris Jacobs-Green, Jewel Jacobs- Cornelius and Claude Cornelius and family in Texas, Ashley and Ben Butler and family of South Carolina, and Drs. Eureka and Andre Dixon and their family from North Carolina USA,Janine Jacobs, Chez McCoy and Shawntel Thompson and their family. Kimberly Jacobs-Williams, Ken, Kareem Jacobs and their children in Pennsylvania, Resa and her daughter from Forte Road Antigua. Pauline and her children in Houston, Texas. Paula, Christine, Shida, Sheika, Somaly, Jakeil (young vice), and Jawandi and their children in Antigua. Bianca and Britney and their family in Germany and Lashawn Jacobs in the US. 35 great grandchildren to include Alexandria and Ayana, Jada and Allie, Delano, Tyjhawn and his siblings, Mario (The real McCoy) and his sibling. Korey and his siblings.

She was preceded in death by her late husband Joshua Jacobs, her sons Melvin, Paul and Steven and her grandsons Vivian Chesel aka Vamp, Paul, Kemoli, and her siblings Catherine, Git, Ruben, and Foster Warrington.

She also leaves to mourn her sister Isla Joseph in the USA.

26 nieces and nephews. Rhona Warrington, Vincent Warrington, Mamah, Victor, Michael, Margaret Anne, Florisca , Joseph and their families in the USA,

Simeon and Jefferson Joseph in Dominica.

Florence Clarke, Dorothy Joseph, Claudette, Rosemarie, Debbie Jeff and Derrick Warrington and their families in the UK,

Meyonette and her family in Guadeloupe,

and special nieces Magna Williams and family in Antigua, Linda Daniel’s in the US and. Dr. Roosevelt Warrington and his family of Colorado. Freddie Warrington in Dominica

Stepchildren Francisca, Ogliver, and Vivian Jacobs and their families.

Sister-in-law to Joseph, Alexis, and Alpheus Jacobs and their families.

Adopted daughters Rose James-Jacobs, Vewoe and their families.

Her friends include Veral Armor and Valley O’Brien of Dominica. Bigs Browne, Marie, Rita, D Gisele Isaac/Joan Messiah, Helena, Donna and Tactic of Antigua.

Palma, Andrine and Patsy Peters, of USA Sylvia was also close friends to pastors Weldon Jarvis, Ivor Davis, Roger Maginly, Grace and Ruth Spencer, Genevive, Bernandette, Sharon, Cheryl, Delora, nurse Deshawn and Weaver the congregation of the North Street Zion church of God.

She was family to the Bontiffs, Warringtons, Massicots, Brumants, Geroge and the Lavilles of Dominica. She was close to the Spencer’s and Jacobs of Potters Village in Antigua.

Her caretakers Mesha, and Rochelle. Many other family and friends too numerous to mention.

The funeral of the late Sylvia Saint Jacobs will be on Wednesday 4th February 2026, tributes starts a 2pm and service is at 2:30 pm at the Zion Church of God North Street.

Interment at Tranquilty Cemetery.
