The ceremony underscored that the occasion was not merely about installing a structure, but about planting a lasting message in the hearts and minds of all who pass through the space. Speakers emphasized that peace is not passive, but intentional—something that must be chosen daily, both individually and collectively.
Rotary International, long recognized as a global champion for peace, highlighted its ongoing investment in conflict prevention, education, community dialogue, and youth leadership worldwide. Central to Rotary’s peace-building philosophy is the belief that peace is more than the absence of conflict; it is the presence of understanding.
At the heart of the initiative is the Rotary Peace Pledge, which affirms that peace begins with each individual. The pledge calls on persons to nurture inner peace, respect diversity, practice compassion, and apply Rotary’s 4-Way Test in all aspects of life. It also encourages individuals to serve as instruments of peace in their homes, schools, and communities through understanding, communication, and mediation.
