Dominica’s Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Executive Pays Courtesy Call to President Sylvanie Burton

On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the Executive of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Dominica paid a courtesy call to its Patron, Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The delegation included Deputy Chairperson- Ms. Linda Gonzalez-Peltier, National Director-Mrs. Kerry-Ann Remie Timothy, Youth Development Representative and Coordinator Petite Soufriere and Kalinago Territory Chapters – Ms. Lilia Durand and Gold Award Holder- Mr. Brandon Remie.

The primary purpose of the visit was to present Her Excellency with a formal report following the Award’s participation in two prestigious global gatherings held in Lagos, Nigeria, in late 2025: the International Gold Event (IGE) from 15-18 November 2025 and Forum 2025 from 1-22 November 2025. These events, which featured HRH Prince Edward,  brought together over 300 global youth leaders. The International Gold Event, held every three years, saw young people from around the world who have achieved the Gold level of the Award. It serves as a platform for youth leaders to share experiences, strengthen networks, and inspire one another.  The Forum convenes leaders across the global Award network to strategically plan and collaborate on shaping the long-term priorities and goals of the Award. Together, participants explore innovative approaches to empower young people in the Award worldwide.

Mr. Brandon Remie, who represented Dominica at both events, shared insights from his engagement with international experts and delegates. The contingent also took the opportunity to update President Burton on recent milestones, discuss current challenges, and brainstorm future initiatives to strengthen the Award’s impact within the nature isle.

The Executive expressed deep gratitude to Her Excellency for her continued patronage and her commitment to fruitful discussions regarding youth development.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
